2016 Tea with Ruth
This year was the 19th season of serving Tea. Tea favors, created by long time volunteer Ilene Norton, were handed out to the first 100 guests. Soup of Success baked delicious cookies from their line of SOS cookie mixes. Menu featured a selection of finger sandwiches, cheesecakes, chocolates, cakes, fund lemonade, and iced tea. Brewed teas included Harney & Sons loose leaf enclosed in a silken sachet courtesy of Kelly Huffman of “honey’s”.
These teas were all served elegantly with fine silver and linens by our volunteer kitchen staff under the guidance of Karen Gadson, Jenny Kelly, Kris Keil, Tecya Rynearson, and Terry Baldwin. Marilyn Karacson provided diatetic foods for those on special diets; Jean Bristol served her “Deviled Eggs”! Patti Jernagan baked her famous teapot cakes to use as door prizes again. Nancy Stewart has loaned us her beautiful silver English Tea Service.
Background tea melodies were provided by THE COOL CHANGE BAND, Drew Frailey and Steve Seevers have arranged our background tea melodies. Drew, his wife, Joy, and daughter, Adrienne, have donated their talents and energies with SOS teas since 2007.
Sue Geyer, Linda Thursby, and Sue Phelps planned a special children’s tea with crafts for the little lady and gentleman.

Madelyn Sharkey and Sherry Bickel called the cards for TEAGO. Tea Time Bingo is the perfect education on Afternoon Tea. All prizes were valued at $5.00 or more.
Artist Jimm Showman continues to support our teas with his scrap metal.
